Not all people with cancer experience pain. But if you do it's comforting to learn as much as possible about the latest methods and options for pain relief. Then you can take an active role with your healthcare team in managing your pain.
Cancer pain can be caused by a tumour pressing on an organ, a nerve or on bone; by treatment procedures such as surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy; stiffness from lying or sitting in one position for too long; or from conditions unrelated to cancer.
Untreated cancer pain can lead to suffering, anxiety, depression and an inability to function normally.
